The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2012 Christmas Parade & Pet Parade entry forms are now available. The annual Christmas Parade will take place at 7:00pm on Monday, December 3rd down Historic Main Street Batesville. Entry forms can be picked up at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce or City Hall.
Entertainment and music will begin at 6:15pm on Main Street. The City of Batesville and Downtown Lighting Ceremony will take place directly before the Christmas Parade. For more information regarding entertainment lineup, contact Paula Grimes, Main Street Director, at 870.793.4632.
The name of the 2012 Christmas Parade is “Candy Canes and Christmas Carols” and parade entries are encouraged to decorate their float in accordance to the Christmas theme. Prize categories will include business entry, civic/nonprofit group, school group, and pet entry. One winner will be selected from each category and announced on Wednesday, December 5th.
There is no entry fee for floats. There will be a $5 entry fee for pets entered into the Pet Parade.
New for 2012, the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce has teamed with Home Depot to present Independence County Lights. Independence County Lights will recognize residents and businesses of Independence County who have displayed their Christmas spirit in lights and other décor. Prize categories will include Best of Show, Religious, Animated, Best Street, “The Griswald” (Lights Galore), and Business. Entry forms can be picked up at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Batesville City Hall, and Home Depot. Maps of entries and winners will be available for pick up on December 7th.
