Description: UACCB and the Arkansas Independent Living Council will host the first annual Disability Awareness Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the Independence Hall Auditorium. The celebration will focus on the effects of language among and toward people with disabilities. Keynote speakers include UACCB Chancellor Debbie Frazier and Mayor Rick Elumbaugh. Arkansas Independent Living Council Executive Director Shá Stephens will conduct a workshop entitled “People First Language: Communicating with Character” at 1:30 p.m. in Independence Hall.
