Blanchard Springs Shelter Cave Hosts Free Concert with Dave Brancecum

The Ozark Folk Center State Park and Blanchard Springs National Park will host a free concert with musician Dave Brancecum Sunday, Oct. 4.

Brancecum will perform traditional Ozark and old time tunes from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., followed by an open “pickin” from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and instruments for the jam session.

“This is a fitting venue to close out our free monthly concert series, usually held at the Stone County Court Square,” said Music Director Daren Dortin. “Blanchard Spring and the cave hold a unique place in the musical history of this region and we’re proud to honor that with this performance.

The performance will take place at the Shelter Cave at Blanchard Springs National Park which served as a stage for an important musical gathering in 1941. This event was known as the Stone County Folkways Festival, and was the first Folk Festival in Stone County, Arkansas. The festival was only held at this location one year.

Parking for this event will be in the day use area only. For more information, please contact Music Director Daren Dortin at 870-269-3851 or

The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Garden, workshops and other special events.
