The White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Inc. (WCSPSF, Inc.), a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that renders charitable services to single parents attending college, is preparing for its third annual fundraising event, a Bunko Bash. The event will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Park Avenue Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased from any WCSPSF, Inc. board member or at the door.
WCSPSF, Inc. helps meet critically important expenses not covered by other financial aid, such as child care, transportation and housing. The support that WCSPSF, Inc. receives every year from you and other businesses is extraordinary. Without your contributions, we would not exist. In 2009, the WCSPSF, Inc. awarded 41 scholarships valued at $21,000. Your contributions are making a huge difference in our community and in the lives of many families. With increased funding, more scholarships will be awarded to help meet the increasing need among applicants.
Contributions are vital to our board and they can help us in more ways than you might think. The WCSPSF, Inc. receives matching funds from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) of up to $8,000 annually for local funds raised, at 160% of local giving. Our organization is operated by an all volunteer board of directors who have set eligibility guidelines, recruited applicants, generated publicity, chosen recipients and raised money to support the project and its goals.
