Central Arkansas’ Newest Ballet Studio Open for Business

Central Arkansas dancers and families have a new place to learn classical ballet in Conway, Arkansas at Central Arkansas Ballet. The new dance studio is the only pre professional ballet training in Conway with classes for children and adults alike, including ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, hip hop and ballet focused exercise classes. The studio also offers private dance lessons for musical theater students.

After a successful opening in September, Central Arkansas Ballet classes are open for enrollment. “It is our mission to bring professional level ballet to as many students as possible and help them to reach their highest potential,” says Director Carrie Miller. “We’re looking forward to bringing professional level ballet training to Central Arkansas and teaching more students the art form of ballet. We know that not all students will go on to be professional dancers but they will receive the training and discipline necessary for that path.”

Classes focus primarily on traditional ballet foundations for young children and specialties for advanced students, including pointe, pas de deux, and repertoire. Advanced students are also encouraged to learn other forms of dance at Central Arkansas Ballet, including hip hop, modern, and tap, to give students a well rounded understanding of dance. Classes are kept small for individual student attention from professionally seasoned instructors, with enrollment capped at 15 students per class, compared to the industry standard of 18 25 students. Class enrollment is open for students, children aged 3 and above through adults, until the end of December, when students will start to prepare for the studio’s spring dance concert in April. Central Arkansas Ballet will also host a holiday performance of The Little Match Girl at Reynolds Performance Hall at UCA on December 12th.

“It’s a great honor to be able to use such a large and technically equipped space for our dancers to perform instead of traditional recitals,” says Ms. Miller. “It certainly sets our ballet studio apart from the rest.” Central Arkansas Ballet also has plans for the future to transform students into professional dancers with the first Conway based performance company. “One of our goals is to inspire a lasting love and appreciation for dance through artistic excellence, by encouraging students to dream big!”

Classes are affordably priced to allow students of diverse backgrounds to take advantage of professional ballet training. Entry level classes for children starting at age 3 are $45 per month and classes for more experienced dancers are around $48 per month. Adult classes are part of the studio’s Flex Program that allows students more flexibility than traditional ballet classes and include adult body conditioning classes at $40 per month.
