City of Batesville Wastewater Treatment Facility Invites Public to Open House and Ribbon Cutting June 9th

The City of Batesville Waste-water Treatment Facility Open House will be held 9-11am June 9th at 500 River Bank Road. Tours will be given from 9-11 am with ribbon cutting event and Mayor comments at 10 am.

In July 2008, Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality issued a consent administrative order requiring the City of Batesville to improve the sewer collection and treatment system in order to comply with the Clean Water Act.

Following the consent administrative order, a one cent sales tax was passed by the voters in the City of Batesville.  These tax dollars allowed the city to fund 50 million dollars in required sewer improvements. “ In 2009 our community voted to support a sales tax to make necessary infrastructure improvements in our community. This has allowed Batesville to make significant improvements to our treatment and collection system while keeping our rates competitive for our citizens and existing industry, “ said Batesville city engineer Damon Johnson.
