Colonel Anita Deason of Conway Joins Boozman’s Arkansas Staff as Military and Veterans Advisor

WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) today announced Colonel (ret.) Anita Deason has joined his staff as an advisor for military and veterans’ issues.

During her thirty-three year military career, Col. Deason served in a variety of traditional command and staff assignments including platoon leader, detachment commander, company executive officer and company commander. She was promoted to the rank of Colonel during her final assignment as Human Resources Officer for the Arkansas National Guard.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve those that have served and those continuing to serve our country.  I am excited to be on Senator Boozman’s team,” Col. Deason said.

“Anita is great addition to my team. She brings over three decades of military service to the table along with a keen understanding of issues facing our servicemembers, veterans and military families. I’m thrilled to have her on board,” Boozman said.

During her military service, Col. Deason earned numerous awards and decorations including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal and the Arkansas Commendation Medal.

A resident of Conway, Col. Deason will be based out of Boozman’s Little Rock office but will travel around the state in her new role.

Col. Deason replaces longtime aide Lt. Colonel (ret) Steve Gray who retired in January. Gray had served on Boozman’s staff since 2001, as well as the staff of Boozman’s predecessor then-Third District Rep. Asa Hutchinson.
