LITTLE ROCK – Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after meeting with employees and touring the facility of Welspun Tubular in Little Rock as part of the 2012 American Energy and Jobs Tour:

“Hardworking Americans are ready for a true all-of-the-above energy strategy, but the Obama Administration continues to pursue anti-jobs policies.  Nowhere is that more evident than here at Welspun – where hundreds of miles of pipe are sitting in a storage yard because the President refuses to approve the Keystone XL pipeline’s construction.  It’s time for the President and the Senate to join with us in the House in supporting an energy strategy that will help put Americans back to work and make us less dependent on Middle Eastern oil.”

Rep. Rick Crawford (AR-01) joined Griffin for today’s Welspun visit, which was part of the House Energy Action Team’s (HEAT) 2012 American Energy and Jobs Tour.  Across the country, HEAT members are participating in similar events, highlighting how increasing American energy production will help strengthen the economy and create jobs.

Welspun announced last December that it was laying off 60 employees as a result of President Obama’s decision to delay the Keystone XL pipeline.  Hundreds of miles of pipe still sit idle at their facility due to the Obama Administration’s refusal to grant a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline’s construction.

The House has passed numerous bills that would expedite the Keystone XL pipeline’s construction but the Senate refuses to pass any of them.  Find a complete list of the pro-jobs bills, including several related to increasing American energy production, at Rep. Griffin’s Jobs and Energy Legislation Tracker website.
