Construction Requires Lane Closures on Interstate 49 in Benton County

Crews constructing future U.S. Highway 412 will require lane closures on Interstate 49, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, lanes on I-49 will be closed overnight between Wagon Wheel Road (Exit 76) in Springdale and State Highway 264 (Exit 78) in Lowell. These closures will occur 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. between Saturday, March 3 and Friday, March 16.

The outside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49 will alternately be closed to allow the contractor to lay asphalt pavement along the shoulder of the interstate. Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs. Traffic will be restored daily by 6:00 a.m.

This project (Job CA0907) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program. The contractor is constructing approximately four miles of the new four-lane U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from Interstate 49 to State Highway 112. The project is expected to be completed mid-2018 and will provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale Metropolitan Area.
