Cozy Comfort Quilt Retreat at Ozark Folk Center Feb 16-18

Two of the classes are already full, but, there’s still time to register for the Cozy Comfort Quilt Retreat, to be held February 16-18, 2012 at the Ozark Folk Center. This retreat is designed to be a stress free weekend full of quilts, quilting and fun with quilters.

Six talented teachers will be teaching classes at the retreat. The hand quilting and collage bag classes are full already. But you can still register for any one of the following unique quilt classes. Daphne Higginbotham is teaching Ragtime Quilt; Jan Hickman is teaching Bold and Beautiful thread painting on hand-dyed fabric; Rene’ Riggan is teaching Applied Felting; and Gail Lewis is teaching Coiled Fabric Baskets. Hurry and get your registrations in to make sure you get the class of your choice. There’s plenty of time to visit with other quilters and share techniques they are learning in the other classes.

Quilters and teachers will be staying in the comfortable Cabins at Dry Creek at the Ozark Folk Center. Each room has two queen-sized beds and a beautiful view of the surrounding forest. The cost of the retreat is based on double occupancy, so grab your quilting friends and join the fun. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the Skillet Restaurant in the park. Dinners will be on your own in town. We frequently go as a group.

The retreat will begin at noon with a meet and greet lunch on Thursday, Feb. 16. That will give you time to travel and check into your room in the morning. We will have class from 1-5 and then go to dinner. After dinner, you can socialize and show-and-tell or work on your quilts in your classrooms in the park Administration building. We will visit and sew until everyone is tired or about 9:30 p.m.

Friday the 17th, breakfast will be from 7:30-8:45. Classes will start at 9:00 and you will quilt away to 12:00. Lunch is from 12:00 to 1:00. Then back to work in your classrooms, the quilting gets serious about now. You can join a group at one of Mountain View’s fine restaurants for dinner or spend some time on your own. Again, the classrooms will be open for evening sewing and socializing.

After the final morning’s breakfast, classes will start at 9:00 and wrap up by 12:00. Lunch will be served from 12:00 to 2:00. During lunch we will have show and tell and class photos.

The retreat package includes classes, lodging, meals, snacks, tips and taxes. After you sign up for your class, you will either get a materials list for items to bring with you or list of materials you will need to purchase for your class from your instructor. This cost is in addition to the cost of the retreat. The cost of the retreat is $225 per person double occupancy. For single occupancy, the cost is $285. Registration deadline is February 10, 2012. Classes are available for your non-quilting partner in a variety of crafts. Call for more information.
