American Family Association has named Dr. James Dobson and his wife Shirley Dobson, Dr. Tony Evans, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and Dr. Richard Land as co-chairpersons for the upcoming The Response: a call to prayer for a nation in crisis.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has filed suit in federal court to stop the prayer event, saying it violates the religious freedom article in the First Amendment.
Dr. Dobson is one of the best known and respected Christian leaders of this generation. He founded Focus on the Family and served as its head for over 30 years. He is currently Chairman of the syndicated radio program Family Talk. Shirley Dobson has served as Chairman of the National Day of Prayer for many years.
Rev. Rodriguez is President of The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. Rev. Rodriguez is recognized as one of the most influential Hispanic Christian leaders in America.
Dr. Evans is President of the radio program The Urban Alternative. Dr. Land is President of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. Wildmon said that other co-chairpersons will be announced in a few days.
