Description: On Second Friday, November 11th, Heber Springs artist Ellen Hobgood will provide a painting demonstration at the BAAC Art Gallery on Main beginning at 6:00 p.m. Ellen is an Ozark artist who paints outside her gallery in Heber Springs whenever the weather allows. She sheds her shoes and paints barefoot, “I become grounded with the earth and besides, I track less paint around,” she says with a wink.
Ellen started drawing at the age of five to illustrate Bible stories. She developed and nurtured her love for Christmas which led her to painting artful Santas. She studied and worked under nationally recognized artist Glenda Turley for eleven years. Eventually, Ellen branched out to paint murals in local homes and businesses.
In the last fifteen years, Ellen’s reputation as the Santa Claus painter has spread far and wide. She has appeared on television and also has been featured in “Southern Living” and “Life in the Ozarks” magazines. Her Santa Claus paintings are beloved and collected by people of all ages and all parts of the country. Ellen has been commissioned to paint portraits and landscapes throughout the country. Many of her works can be found in private collections all over the United States.
Come and visit with Ellen on Friday, November 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the BAAC Art Gallery on Main.
