and cave tour on Monday, August 20 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Danny Goodwin, retired National Groundwater Hydrologist for the US
Department of Agriculture, will present an overview of caves, cavern
formation and geology and lead a Discovery trail tour. Mr. Goodwin
has spent almost 20 years volunteering at Blanchard. He specializes
in cave surveying, photography and mapping. The program will provide
a unique perspective of the cave and additional insight through Mr.
Goodwin’s professional and volunteer experience.
Price is $10.50 for adults and $5.50 for folks age 6 – 15. Call
870 757 2211 to purchase tickets. Bring a brown bag lunch, if you
like. Program is limited to 35 people, advanced purchase is
recommended. Be prepared to walk 1.2 miles and traverse 700 stair
steps. Blanchard Springs Caverns is located off Highway 14, in the
Ozark National Forest, 15 miles northwest of Mountain View, Arkansas,
near the town of Fifty Six.
