Griffin: Cancelling the C-130 AMP Upgrades Would Be Shortsighted and Ill-Advised

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement in response to news reports that Obama Administration officials are considering the cancellation of the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP):

“If accurate, the Obama Administration’s decision to cancel the C-130 AMP upgrades strikes me as shortsighted and ill-advised.  These aircraft, many of which are based at our own Little Rock Air Force Base, provide our country with critical combat and humanitarian capabilities, and the AMP upgrades will extend the life of the fleet and save taxpayers money.  As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee and co-founder of the bipartisan Congressional C-130 Modernization Caucus, I will monitor developments very closely and oppose the cancellation of the C-130 AMP upgrades.”
