Griffin: Export Agreement Will Strengthen Economy, Create Jobs

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. – KoreaFree Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) taking effect today:

“Thousands of hardworking Arkansansearn their living from the export of Arkansas-made products to othercountries.  Last year alone, our state exported over $195 million worth ofgoods to South Korea. Starting today, Arkansasjob creators will have even greater access to this critical market, which willstrengthen our economy and create jobs.”

Rep. Griffin supported the KORUS FTA when itpassed the House in October 2011.  According to the U.S. Department ofCommerce, the KORUS FTA is expected to increase U.S. exports by over $11 billionannually.   Nearly 66,000 Arkansasjobs are supported by the exportation of manufactured goods, according to theNational Association of Manufacturers.
