Griffin Statement on Japan Earthquake, Tsunamis

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02), a member of both the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement regarding the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan, and the subsequent tsunamis:

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of today’s tragic events. As a member of the Foreign Affairs committee, I will work with my colleagues to ensure the State Department is doing all it can to assist Americans affected by the disaster.

“Japan and the United States are close friends and strong allies. Through my membership on the Armed Services committee, I will work to ensure the Department of Defense is providing the proper resources to members of our military stationed in Japan so that they can get through the continuing aftershocks and remain prepared to assist our Japanese friends in the recovery.”
