Hands On in the Craft Village at the Ozark Folk Center Sept 3-5

This Labor Day weekend bring your family to the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View and get your hands on fun. 

The Craft Village in the Ozark Folk Center State Park features more than 20 different shops, each with a crafts person demonstrating and selling items they make. On September 3, 4 and 5 these artisans are offering you a chance to learn a bit of their craft.

You can sign up in the shop during the day for a short class. You’ll make something and take it home with you.Imagine being able to tell your friends, “I made it myself.”

Crafters offering Hands On Workshops include

1.        Foot lathe—Turn a top, $5.00

2.        Candle Shop—Color dip candles, $2.00/ pair

3.        Broom Shop – Tie a whisk, $5.00

4.        Doll Shop – Cornhusk doll bookmark, $2.00

5.        Soap Shop  – Wash Cloth Soap Bunny, $5.00

6.        Woodcarver – Paint a Color Change top, $2.00

7.        Pottery – Sculpt your own, $5.00

8.        Clothier – Make a rag doll, $5.00

9.        Cooper/Furniture – Make a shavings critter, $1.00

10.     Knife – Sharpen your own knife, $4.00

11.     Country Kitchen –  Make popcorn balls, $1.00

12.     Spin/Weave – Weave a bookmark, $5.00

13.     Quilt  Shop– Three-D Bow Tie , $3.00

14.     Print Shop – Print your own bookmark, $2.00

15.     Glass Bead Shop – Make your own bead, $8.00 (this class involves working with a 2000-degree torch and is not for children)16.     Leather Shop – Personalize your Leather bookmark – $5.00

Sign up in the Craft Shop before 2:00 p.m. for your time. Workshops last 10 to 30 minutes. 

 The cost is payable directly to the crafts person and is in addition to regular admission to the Craft Village which is $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for children under 12. A family pass is available at $27.50 for two adults in the same household and their children under the age of 18.

The Craft Village is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 5 for the Labor Day holiday. Normal hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday. In October the Craft Village is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
