Description: Two campus organizations at Harding University are teaming up to fight human trafficking. The Multicultural Student Activity Committee and HUmanity will be showing “Nefarious: Merchant of Souls,” March 20 in the Administration Auditorium at 7 p.m.

To raise awareness about this industry, Exodus Cry, an international anti-trafficking organization will show their documentary exposing the current effects of human traffickingin the U.S.According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, a child is trafficked every 30 seconds. The U.S. department of Justice estimates that the average age of entry into commercial sex slavery in the U.S. is 13 years old.

“Anything that we can do as a free society to help rid the world of such atrocities, we shoulddo,” MSAC sponsor Butch Gardner said.

This documentary is the first part of a trilogy aimed at raising awareness about modern sexslavery. There are more than 30 million slaves in the world, more than at anyother point in human history.

“I had no idea slavery still existed,” senior Ashli Roussel, a leading member in HUmanity, said. “We can stop slavery and human trafficking if we can get people on board.I think that awareness of this issue can touch peoples hearts, and, throughthis documentary, we hope to stir some people to action.”

Though this eventis free and open to the public, donations will be requested and appreciated.
