Harding University to host Christian College Choral Festival

Harding University will host nine college choirs for the Christian College Choral Festival Jan. 9 and 10. The University last hosted the event in 1999.

An event that began in 1966, the festival will include schools from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee; Ohio Valley University in Vienna, West Virginia; Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan; Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas; Pepperdine University in Malibu, California; Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee; Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama; Crowley’s Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas; and Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida.

Harding ensembles that will be participating include Belle Canto, Chorus and Concert Choir. The festival will conclude at 7 p.m. in Benson Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 10 with a combined concert featuring more than 400 voices. Repertoire for the combined numbers includes “To Him We Sing,” “Rose of Sharon,” “Saints Bound for Heaven,” “We Shall Walk,” and “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit.” Admission is free.
