Hendrix and UACCB to host separate Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations

Hendrix observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Conway, Ark. (Jan. 14, 2010) — Hendrix College is joining with others in the community to sponsor several events recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Monday, January 18 — Conway Unity March from City Hall to the Faulkner County Library. The march will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a program at 11:00 a.m.

Monday, January 18 — After the march, the MISS Office will sponsor the 3rd Annual MLK Children’s Carnival at the downtown Boys and Girls Club. The carnival will take place from 2-3:30pm. This event is for all children in the community, so bring your families to enjoy this event.

Monday, January 25 — The MLK Chapel Service will feature Bishop Charles Crutchfield in Greene Chapel at 6:30 p.m. Members of the Conway community (including members of the A Piece of the Dream MLK Jr. Group) will attend this final MLK Holiday event. The Hendrix Gospel Choir will provide special music.

UACCB to host Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration

A community-wide celebration featuring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. entitled “Keepers of the Dream” will be held on the UACCB Campus, Sunday, January 18, 2009 beginning at 5:30pm in the Independence Hall auditorium.

Experience a powerful and moving program featuring gospel choirs and a motivational speaker.  Admission is free and open to everyone.
