Improvements to Interstate 49 Northbound & Fulbright Expressway Require Nightly Lane Closures in Fayetteville

Construction of improvements to I-49 & Fulbright Expressway requires night lane closures in Fayetteville, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Wednesday, May 24 through Saturday, May 27, crews will close a lane of the
I-49 northbound traffic off-ramp (Exit 67) to Fulbright Expressway for 15 minutes at a time and between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

This closure will allow contractors to construct the I-49 northbound on-ramp overpass bridge above the existing travel lane of Fulbright Expressway. It is anticipated that the nightly work will take 3 days to complete.

In August 2016, the Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a contract in the amount of $94,824,907.70 to Kiewit Infrastructure South Co., of Fort Worth TX, for the project. The project will widen I-49 to three lanes in each direction and make improvements to the U.S. Highway 112 (Exit 66) interchange.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
