Improvements to Interstate 49 Require Overnight Lane Closures in Benton County

Construction work on I-49 in Rogers requires overnight lane closures, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Monday night, April 24, crews will perform mainlane paving on northbound and southbound I-49. The inside and outside lanes will alternately be closed from Pleasant Grove Road (Exit 81) to New Hope Road (Exit 83) during this time period to allow for construction.

The overnight closures will occur Monday night, April 24 through Saturday morning, April 29, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.

Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

This project (Job CA0901) is part of AHTD’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from
Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers, and it is expected to complete in
late 2017. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
