Jane Doe found Dead in Ohio in 1981 has been identified as Marcia King from Arkansas

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office (Ohio) announced today, April 11, 2018 the identification of Jane Doe found in 1981.

Jane Doe was found hours after she was killed by strangulation and blunt force trauma. Jane Doe who became known as Buckskin Doe because of the coat she was wearing, was found on Greenlee Road in Miami County, Ohio on April 24, 1981.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office has taken advantage of new technology and investigative techniques as they have become available over the past 37 years.  The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children worked with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to offer resources that would help with the investigation. NCMEC created a facial reconstruction in 2016 of what Jane Doe may have looked like.

On April 9, 2018 Jane Doe was positively identified as Marcia L. King. Marcia, who was 21 years old at the time of her death was from Arkansas. Investigators believe that Marcia may have had ties to Kentucky, Arkansas, Ohio and Pennsylvania shortly before her murder.

Miami County Sheriff’s office has worked tirelessly to identify Marcia and they are now moving forward with a homicide investigation.
