Leadership Batesville Class Visits State Capital

The 2016 Leadership Batesville class attended its second program session on Wednesday, May 4. The class travelled to Little Rock to visit several state offices and organizations including the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC), and the capitol building.

While at the capitol, the Leadership Batesville class received a guided tour from State Representative James Sturch. Following the tour, Sturch introduced the class as his guests during a House legislative session. The class then visited with Senator Linda Collins-Smith who gave the participants a tour of the Arkansas Senate Chambers and the Department of Treasury. “The Leadership Batesville class received a lot of valuable information from the Arkansas State Chamber and AEDC. It is always interesting to get a deeper understanding of how these organizations work to develop the entire state and how those developments affect us on a local level. Several of this year’s Leadership Batesville participants have previously visited the state capitol building, but many of them commented after the tour that their Leadership Batesville trip provided something extra that they hadn’t experienced before,” said Danell Hetrick, BACC Director of Grant Writing and Communications.

The BACC thanks the Arkansas State Chamber, AEDC, Representative Sturch, and Senator Collins-Smith for providing a great program to the 2016 Leadership Batesville class and the Wood Family Dealerships for providing transportation. The 2016 Leadership Batesville program is made possible by presenting sponsor White River Planning and Development District and session sponsor WRD Entertainment.
