Lincoln, Pryor, and Snyder Announce Funds for Central Arkansas Transit

Washington – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) today announced that Central Arkansas Transit will receive $1.3 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to purchase new buses to replace older models that have exceeded their useful life.

“Public transportation is a vital service for residents in the Central Arkansas area. These funds will help preserve and maintain buses and other equipment that help riders arrive to their destinations safely and quickly. I’m pleased to see our state receive this federal assistance and I remain committed to helping Arkansas access the resources and support we need,” said Lincoln.

“A good public transportation system attracts businesses to the state and improves the quality of life for Arkansans.  The new city buses purchased with these funds will help keep our residents safe when using public transportation and boost economic development,” said Pryor.

“Some new public transportation vehicles are headed to Central Arkansas,” said Snyder. “These new buses will provide smooth, reliable transportation for Arkansas riders for years to come.”
