Literacy Action of Central Arkansas Needs Your Help

On Thursday, April 2, we’re participating in ArkansasGives, a one-day online giving event. When you make a donation to Literacy Action on April 2, you can help us qualify for bonus dollars and cash prizes that will make your donation stretch farther.

What is ArkansasGives?

ArkansasGives is one day, one easy way to give. Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Arkansans can go to to make a donation to the charities of their choice. During this one-day event, each donation you give will help your favorite nonprofit organizations qualify for additional bonus dollars from Arkansas Community Foundation. All participating nonprofits will receive a portion of a $250,000 bonus pool; the more a nonprofit raises in proportion to the other participating groups, the larger the share of bonus dollars it will receive.

Will you help us?

Your donation will enable us to continue our important mission to build a community of adults empowered through literacy.Literacy Action works hard to teach literacy skills to struggling readers in the Central Arkansas area. In the last 12 months, Literacy Action served over 300 adult students delivering over 6,000 hours of individualized instruction. We have grown our group ESL tutoring programs with immigrant populations at area churches throughout the community. We have also expanded our Pulaski Technical College intensive reading bridge program to reach at least 45-60 potential students this academic year. As with most of our programs, we are the only provider of ESL and Basic Literacy Instruction for adults in Central Arkansas. With 30,000 adults in this area reading at below basic levels, Literacy Action provides a crucial service that benefits the entire community. A gift of $25 will help us train one tutor. A gift of $100 will help us supply books to one tutor and student for 6 months!
