One of Lyon College’s most beloved faces belongs to Brenda Hyatt. Brenda has been working for Dining Services at Lyon College for just over thirty years. Brenda’s Bake Shop is the one place that all faculty, staff, and students make a point to visit. Baked with love, a taste of home, that sweet bite of happiness that helps us get through the day–that’s what we get when we help ourselves to Brenda’s tempting offerings. Brenda’s heart and soul goes into every dessert that she bakes; countless hours have been spent perfecting, categorizing and rating each recipe. When Edwards Commons burned to the ground, the building was destroyed, but by some miracle, those precious recipes survived the wrath of the fire. This recipe collection of Lyon’s favorite recipes is in celebration of the joy that Brenda brings to us every day.
Lyon College is pleased to announce that you may now own some of Brenda’s favorite recipes! Half of the proceeds will be donated to the student center building fund–a real sweet treat! The deadline for pre-Christmas orders is Monday, December 12, at noon.
To place an order, either email paula.zagata@lyon.edu with the quantity that you’d like or stop by the Scot Shop (after December 12) and place your order there. Cookbooks are $20 each and contain over 100 of Brenda’s recipes. Payment is due with the order; cash or checks only, please. Cookbooks will be available to pick up at The Scot Shop after printing is completed. We will contact you when the books are available.
