The Lyon College Education and Adventure Program (LEAP) is a finalist for $10,000 in the Polartec Made Possible College Challenge. LEAP students submitted a video for the contest and were chosen as one of four finalists. The other finalists include Princeton University, Skidmore College and Northeastern University.

Voting began Friday on Polartec’s Facebook page. The video with the most votes wins the $10,000 prize. You can vote once per day. Voting ends Feb. 1.

Lyon College Outdoor Recreation and Education Director Scott Dirksen said winning the contest would be huge for the program.”It would mean everything to us,” he said. “We could provide equipment for students that otherwise we wouldn’t be able to afford.”Dirksen said if Lyon’s program wins the contest, he would use the money to further develop student leadership training opportunities and buy water equipment including canoes, paddles and lifejackets.
