Maintenance Work Requires Temporary Closure between Newark and Newport

Maintenance work on State Highway 69 near the Black River Bridge will require a temporary closure and detour in Independence and Jackson counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting; State Highway 69 will be closed to through traffic starting on Monday, August 7. This closure will allow crews to make repairs near the Black River Bridge unless the White River rises.

Anyone traveling from Newark to Newport will need to take State Highway 122 north to State Highway 37 east to Newport. Those traveling from Newport to Newark will need travel State Highway 367 north to State Highway 37 west and then State Highway 122 south to Newark.
