March of Dimes Names New Arkansas Chapter State Director

LITTLE ROCK, AR, June 5, 2012 / The March of Dimes has named a new Arkansas state director.   Janalyn Williams, a native Arkansan, will oversee all facets of the Arkansas chapter, from programs, public affairs and marketing to events, fundraising, operations and volunteer development.

After graduating from Harding University, Janalyn moved to Nashville where she spent the first 14 years of her career . She has worked at several media outlets including The Tennessean and Apartment Guide serving the Middle Tennessee Multi-Family industry and the Greater Nashville Apartment Association in creating and implementing local and national multi-media campaigns. 

With more than a decade of marketing and advertising experience she utilized her background to launch the Nashville Multi-Family division for InStar, one of the nation’s leading construction-restoration firms. While serving as National Account Manager and Marketing Director, she achieved all sales goals, and exceeded marketing expectations. She was given additional responsibilities when she became part of a traveling team that responded to all large scale natural disasters.  During each mobilization she coordinated the marketing and communication efforts with the operations team members.

As a volunteer chair for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Nashville, Janalyn and her revenue team raised more than $1.1 million in 2008, a 43% increase from the prior year.  This achievement earned Janalyn recognition by the Champions in Health, Volunteer of the Year for Susan G. Komen. 

Janalyn is a native Arkansan with deep roots in White County where she was born and raised on a working farm in Bald Knob. Her teen years were spent in Northeast Arkansas where she attended Cross County High School.

She is thrilled and excited to move back to Arkansas to be closer to her family while pursuing a professional dream of working for March of Dimes.

She has demonstrated her desire to lead, mentor and win. I am excited that she is on the team and will bring a synergy that is unmatched.”

Headquartered in Little Rock, the March of Dimes Arkansas chapter also has offices in  Jonesboro and Springdale.  It has 11 employees and thousands of Arkansas volunteers.   The Chapter recently held March for Babies which experienced strong support among Family Teams with a 49% increase over last year.  The Chapter is preparing for Signature Chefs events in Little Rock, Fayetteville and Jonesboro

The March of Dimes is the leading organization for pregnancy and baby health. The nonprofit group seeks to help moms have healthy pregnancies and give babies a healthy start, and works to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
