The North Central Arkansas Foundation for Arts & Education (NCAFA&E) will kick off the 2010-2011 concert season with two concerts by world renowned Latin guitarist David Burgess. His performances as soloist and chamber musician have taken him all over the world. Praised by musicians and critics worldwide, he is recognized as one of today’s premier guitarists.
In 1984, he was selected as the first recipient of the Andres Segovia Fellowship. He has also won top honors in the Ponce International Competition in Mexico City, the Guitar ‘81 Competition in Toronto and the 31st International Music Competition in Munich. Highlights of recent seasons include several concert tours of Europe and the United States with numerous appearances as orchestral soloist, including featured performances with the Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York and the American Chamber Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. Mr. Burgess currently resides in New York City where he has performed at Town Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall and Lincoln Center.
The first event will be a Dinner Concert Buffet at Indian Hills Country Club in Fairfield Bay at 6:00 P.M. Saturday October 2nd with a cash bar from 5-6 P.M. Mr. Burgess will perform immediately after the dinner. Tickets for the Buffet are $20 and may be purchased from the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce and NCAFA&E President Lea Berry. The second event will be a free concert presented by Mr. Burgess, Sunday October 3 at 2:00 P.M. at Clinton School Auditorium, corner of Joe Bowling Rd, Fraser and Hall Sts. Clinton, Arkansas.
On Friday October 1st Mr. Burgess will present concerts to 3 area schools. These presentations are funded by First Service Bank and NCAFA&E. All concerts for the coming season are free to the public. Private donations will be gladly accepted and are tax deductible. NCAFA&E brings performances, programs and workshops by professional artists to area schools and the community.
