Operation Jump Start to enhance small business success classes will kick-off on Oct. 6

MELBOURNE (Aug. 13, 2012) – Are you a small businessowner wanting to enhance your current offerings? Are you interested in startingyour own business? Operation JumpStart is here to help.

The initiative,sponsored by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research andExtension, in partnership with Ozarka College, Community and Economic Development, ArkansasWomen’s Business Center,Winrock International, U.S. Small Business Administration, and the DeltaRegional Authority, will be offered in Izard, Fultonand Sharp Counties.

Designed to allowparticipants an opportunity to complete a feasibility plan, Operation JumpStartwill guide students through the start-up process. Business plans developed inthe course will also be evaluated by a committee of local businessprofessionals who will assist in determining probability of success.

Areas of studywill include concept development, market research, market analysis, financialprojections, and case studies.

The cost to attendthe program is $100, however, half will be reimbursed to participants uponcompletion of the program. There will also be an opportunity to compete forstart-up seed capital to go toward your small business.

The classes willkick-off on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. and will run until 3:30 p.m. Theremaining classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.The final class, which includes a graduation celebration, will be held onThursday, Nov. 8.

Classes willrotate between Ozarka College – Melbourne, Ozarka College– Ash Flat and North Arkansas Electric Cooperative in Salem.

The deadline toregister is Sept. 4. Seating is limited and will be offered on a first come,first served basis.
