Ozark Foothills FilmFest Seeking Foothills Art for Poster Deadline Nov 15

FilmFest Seeking Foothills Art for Poster

The Ozark Foothills FilmFest is gearing up for its 10th annual event in March 2011. One exciting aspect of the annual cinema celebration for the past several years has been its use of an “Ozark foothills-inspired” image taken from an original artwork as its primary branding image. Past selections have included “Ozark Barn,” a watercolor by Richard Stephens of Hot Springs; “Sandtown Memories,” a watercolor by Stacey Rhoades of Hardy; “Canoe on the Grass,” an oil painting by Little Rock artist Barry Lindley; and a collage incorporating original, PhotoShop-enhanced photographs by graphic designer Damian DeLoach.

The Ozark Foothills FilmFest once again invites visual artists to submit a digital image of a work of original art that depicts the landscape, lore, or lifestyle of the Ozark Foothills region. The selected image will become the promotional image for the 2011 (10th annual) festival, which takes place March 23-27 in Batesville. We encourage works that capture surprising foothills scenes or common scenes captured in surprising ways. Large, close-up type images work better in a promotional context than highly detailed pictures requiring close examination.

Artists are asked to donate the USE OF a digital photograph of their artwork for all promotional purposes surrounding the 2011 Ozark Foothills FilmFest. The work itself remains the property of the artist. While there is no financial compensation for providing the image, the promotional considerations are significant. Posters based on the selected artwork have appeared in OZARKS magazine, Life in the Ozarks, Oxford American magazine, and in the National Endowment for the Arts annual report. In addition to the posters, print programs, and promotional merchandise produced for the festival, the image will appear alongside articles about the festival in numerous newspapers and magazines, both local and national. The artist of the original work will be acknowledged on the festival poster, program, and website and his/her name will be provided to all publications that choose to use the image in their promotion of the festival.

To have a work considered for the 2011 festival image, send a reasonably sized .jpg or .pdf of your work, along with your contact information, to ozarkfilm@wildblue.net. Submissions must be received by November 15, 2010.
