Ozarka College Culinary Arts to Serve Up Tropical Cuisine at Semester’s First Gourmet Dinner

Ozarka College Lead Culinary Chef and Instructor Lou Rice has announced the September dates for Culinary Art’s Gourmet Nights.

Gourmet nights are open to the public and children’s menus are available. Menus are provided for entrée selection and pricing.

The first night, ‘a taste of the tropics,’ will be on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Culinary Arts Dining Room located inside the John E. Miller Education Complex on the Melbourne campus, 218 College Dr. The second night is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26 with the theme pending.

Advanced Culinary Arts students work alongside Chef Rice and instructor Mimi Newsome to develop the evening’s menu and prepare the unique dishes. Each semester, Culinary Arts students host gourmet dinners to gain real-world experience to better prepare them in their future careers.

Gourmet nights are also scheduled for Oct. 10 and 24 and Nov. 7 and 21.

Reservations are highly recommended for anyone wanting to attend, but are not required, and can be made by calling the Culinary Arts department at 870-368-2062.

Ozarka College is a comprehensive technical/community college, with locations in Fulton, Izard, Sharp and Stone counties. The college offers 28 associate degrees, technical certificates and certificates of proficiency, as well as workforce training, continuing education and adult basic education.
