Ozarka College – Mountain View to Host Open House for New Facility Aug 11

Officials from Ozarka College have announced plans for a ribbon cutting, dedication, and donor recognition for the new Student and Nursing Education Center located on Ozarka College Drive in Mountain View on August 11 at 10:00 a.m. .  After the short ceremony, there will be a reception and facility tours available for those in attendance. The public is invited to attend the celebration.

The permanent home of Ozarka College-Mountain View opened in August of 2005 after ten acres of land was purchased by the college in May of 2003.  Enrollment has grown each year since the facility opened and the Ozarka College Board of Trustees recognized the need for additional space and unanimously approved a resolution to provide construction funding through institutional bond restructure.  A ground breaking ceremony took place in August of 2010 and construction began immediately.

Ozarka President, Dr. Richard Dawe explains the expansion at the Stone County site was crucial to facilitate the rapid enrollment growth in that area. “This is a state-of-the art educational facility that includes classrooms, offices, a nursing lab, lecture hall, conference room, and the focal point of the building: the Student Center and Cyber Café area.”

Dawe adds, “We are pleased that this project was completed ahead of schedule so we can utilize it fully during the upcoming Fall semester.”  Ozarka has also received grant funding to begin phase two of the construction project in Stone County, an outdoor amphitheatre.  Construction for that project will begin sometime this Fall.
