Pianist Joel Fan performs at Harding University

SEARCY, Ark.—Internationally renowned pianist Joel Fan will perform in Harding University’s Administration Auditorium on Feb. 17. The show begins at 7 p.m., and tickets cost $2.

Fan is widely recognized for his participation in Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project, which involves the collaboration of artists from diverse cultures. The project seeks to improve multi-cultural exchange and encourage artistic innovation.

A Taiwanese American, Fan began performing with the New York Philharmonic at age 11. He has since played all over the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is in high demand among members of the international music community, and he has been featured by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Fan studied piano at Julliard, and he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University. He earned a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Peabody Institute at John Hopkins University.

Fan has won the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concert Auditions, the D’Anglo Young Artists International Competition and the Busoni International Piano Competition. The Los Angeles Times calls him “a soaring talent.” According to The Washington Post, Fan is “a versatile and sensitive pianist – an impressive talent.”
