Quapaw Quartet the string quartet of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestrat at Lyon Feb. 15

The Quapaw Quartet, the resident string quartet of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, will perform a selection of classical music in the annual West Endowed Concert on Friday, Feb. 15, in the Bevens Music Room at Lyon College. The ensemble will perform music for string quartet by Franz Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven. The performance is free and open to the public.

The Quapaw Quartet was founded in 1980. It provides musical and educational entertainment to thousands of music lovers each year. The quartet consists of violinists Eric Hayward and Meredith Maddox Hicks, violist Ryan Mooney, and cellist David Gerstein.

The Dan C. and Sidney Childs West String Endowment was established by Dr. and Mrs. West in May 1981 for the purpose of offering live musical performances or stringed instrument instruction at Lyon College. The West String Endowment has supported free concerts on campus by many fine ensembles over the years. Dr. West was president of Lyon College – then Arkansas College – from 1972 to 1988.
