‘Red Hot Ladies Luncheon’ to Welcome Miss Arkansas Claudia Raffo

Miss Arkansas Claudia Raffo will headline the 2019 Red Hot Ladies Luncheon, to be held Friday, April 5, in Independence Hall at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.

The annual luncheon provides a fashionable social outing but, more importantly, the event also raises awareness about issues impacting the lives of women, and inspires them to make positive changes and commit to a healthy lifestyle. Each year, about 300 women attend the events, which includes a popular silent auction.

Since 2006, the luncheons have raised more than $120,000 in contributions for various non-profit organizations that serve the health-related needs of women and their families in Batesville, Independence County, and surrounding communities.

The co-beneficiaries of the proceeds from this year’s Red Hot Ladies Luncheon will be Habitat for Humanity of Independence County, and “Fight Pretty,” a White River Health System affiliated program that helps women feel strong and beautiful during and after cancer treatments.

“Claudia Raffo has enjoyed an extremely successful reign as Miss Arkansas, serving as an advocate for our state and effectively promoting a variety of important health-related causes,” said Luncheon Chairperson Joyce Prickett of Citizens Bank. “She will speak at our luncheon on the topic, ‘New Life Saves Lives: Umbilical Cord Donation’.”

Ms. Raffo will address the importance of umbilical cord donation to help fight against blood diseases and certain cancers. She says she experienced first-hand the difference it can make. After surviving both breast cancer and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Ms. Raffo’s grandmother was diagnosed with leukemia when Claudia was 11 years old. Doctors used the stem cells from donated umbilical cord blood to save her life. Since then, Claudia and her family have been proactive in raising awareness for umbilical cord preservation and cord blood transplants.

The doors for the Red Hot Ladies Luncheon will open at 11 a.m. to allow guests to participate in a popular silent auction, which features items and services donated by dozens of local businesses.

Reserved sponsorship tables for eight guests for the luncheon are available for $200. Individual tickets are available for $25 each with open seating. To reserve tables or obtain other information, call 870-698-6234.

Luncheon and door prize tickets may be purchased at the event or in advance at Citizens Bank’s new Headquarters Building and at its Eagle Mountain Branch.
