Registration Open for 2nd Bad Boy Kids Triathlon for Literacy

Registration is open for the second annual Bad Boy Kids Triathlon for Literacy, which is set for Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Lyon College. Kids ages 5-18 will swim, bike and run to benefit the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project. This year’s participants hail from Batesville and its surrounding communities, Searcy, Heber Springs, Paragould, Salem, Memphis, TN and Baton Rouge, LA.

Athletes can pick up race packets and unload their bikes between 7:00a and 8:30a. The first heat will begin promptly at 9:00am.

The cost of the event is $20 until July 12, and $25 on race day. Scholarships are available for families with financial need. Please call the Literacy Project for more information. Major sponsors include Bad Boy Mowers, Lyon College, Fuller Bumpers Esq., W.R.D. Entertainment, First Community Bank and The Citizens Bank. Batesville magazine Eye on Independence will raffle off two bicycles at the triathlon.

The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project, which serves Fulton, Sharp, Izard and Independence Counties, teaches adults who are learning to read and adults who are learning English. The Literacy Project relies on trained volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring for adult students who need help with their basic reading or English language skills. Based in Batesville, Arkansas, the Literacy Project is a United Way member agency and part of the Arkansas Literacy Councils network of adult literacy organizations.
