Searcy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary 9/11 Memorial Fundraiser

This September will mark the ten year anniversary of the terrorist
attacks on the United States of America.  Thousands of lives were lost
that day and among them were 343 firefighters.  These men and women
paid the ultimate price responding to the rescue effort that day.

In an effort to appropriately memorialize those who lost their lives
that horrific day, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has
selected Searcy Fire Department to receive an artifact from 9/11.  The
artifact is an I-beam piece of steel from the World Trade Center and
will be the focal point in a monument to be erected in front of
Central Station.  Our hope is to preserve a piece of history and give
the citizens of Searcy an opportunity to experience something about
the World Trade Center locally.

The Searcy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is offering businesses,
groups and individuals an opportunity to contribute to the funding of
the memorial by sponsoring one of 343 American flags that will be
placed along Beebe-Capps Expressway this September 11th.  Each flag
will bear a ribbon with the name of a firefighter killed on 9/11.
Proceeds from these sponsorships will go to fund the designing and
erecting of the memorial.  Sponsorship of a flag will be $25, and is a
fully tax- deductible, charitable contribution as allowed by the IRS.

If you have any questions, want to sponsor a flag or make a donation, please call Brooks Sawyers at The Searcy Fire Department at 501-279-1066.
Please make all checks payable to Searcy Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
