Secretary Daniels Encourages Arkansans to Vote Early from June 1-7

LITTLE ROCK, AR—Secretary of State Charlie Daniels today reminded the state’s registered voters to take advantage of the early voting period for the June 8 General Primary (Runoff) Election starting Tuesday, June 1.

“I want to encourage all of Arkansas’s registered voters, including those who did not participate in the preferential primary election, to make their voices heard in the runoff election,” Secretary Daniels said.  “Voting early is a great option for those who cannot make it to the polls on June 8.”

Early voting will be available from Tuesday, June 1 – Monday, June 7 statewide during regular business hours, which may vary slightly from county to county.  Early voting will not be available on Saturday, June 5.  Each county will provide at least one early voting location (usually the county courthouse), and some will offer additional satellite locations.  Polls are open statewide from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm on the June 8 General Primary (Runoff) Election Day.

Arkansans who voted a Democratic or Republican ballot in the May 18, 2010 Preferential Primary & Nonpartisan Judicial Election will be able to vote only in that same party’s runoff, if applicable.  Arkansans who did not vote in the May 18, 2010 Primary will be able to vote in either party’s runoff election, along with those who voted only a nonpartisan judicial ballot.

Arkansans can view the list of candidates and races up for a runoff election, verify their voter registration status, find their early and Election Day polling locations, and learn more on Arkansas’s voting process by visiting www.VoteNaturally.org or contacting the Arkansas Secretary of State Elections Division at (800) 482-1127.
