House Bill 1628, sponsored by Rep. Mary Bentley and Sen. Gary Stubblefield, has designated a section of Arkansas Highway 22 as the “True Grit Trail” in recognition of the famous novel by Arkansas author Charles Portis.
On Thursday, November 14, ARDOT will unveil commemorative signs for the trail in Dardanelle and Fort Smith. The Dardanelle sign will be unveiled at 10:00 a.m. and the Fort Smith sign will be unveiled at 1:00 p.m. Please see attached maps for event locations.
