Self-sufficient Herbalists to Meet May 6th & 7th at the Ozark Folk Center State Park

Mountain View, Arkansas – – Nature and herb enthusiasts will gather at the Ozark Folk Center State Park May 6 and 7 for the annual Herbal Hike and Medicinal Herb Workshop.

Early registration is advised. This event is for people who are building a knowledge base for identifying wild plants and mushrooms, using herbs and essential oils, and self-sufficiency. Herbal merchants will be showing their wares throughout the park. The Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center co-sponsors this educational workshop.

The hike takes place Friday morning from the Ozark Folk Center, through the woods to the Mountain View City Park Stone Amphitheater. Participants must be able to walk over rugged, uneven terrain. There will be concurrent breakout classes with optional hands-on workshops during the afternoon.

Saturday’s topics include using essential oils in the garden; the medicinal benefits of Capsicum, Herb of the Year 2016™; an explanation of the different paradigms of healing; and one farmer’s methods for raising healthy pork.
