Although Southern Bank has only served the Batesville and surrounding communities since 2010, Southern Bank has strong roots in America’s Heartland. The bank was originally chartered by the State of Missouri in 1887 and converted from a state-chartered stock savings and loan association to a federally chartered stocking savings in 1995. In 1998, the Bank converted it charter to a state chartered stock savings bank. Finally, in 2004, the Bank converted to a state chartered trust company with banking powers.
