The 2013 Batesville Area Arts Council National Juried Exhibition is open to all artists

The 2013 Batesville Area Arts Council National Juried Exhibition is open to all artists 18 and older working in 2D media. Entries must be original works created within the last 5 years. No Giclee prints are allowed. Works previously exhibited at the BAAC Art Gallery on Main are ineligible. Artists may submit up to three images with an entry fee of $25. Two additional images may be submitted for an additional $5 each. Accepted works will be exhibited at the BAAC Art Gallery on Main Street (Batesville, AR) March 19-April 20, 2013. A purchase prize of $500 and cash rewards around $1500 will be available.

Additionally, the first place winner will also be given a solo exhibition at the BAAC Art Gallery in 2013.

Juror Bio

David Bailin is an artist working in Little Rock. He has received artist fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Arkansas Arts Council and the Mid-America/NEA Fellowship Program. His works can be seen in public and private collections throughout the country and has received critical reviews in Artnews, the Los Angeles Times, the Oxford American Magazine, the Arkansas Times, art LTD and other prestigious periodicals. Bailin is currently a part-time art faculty member at the Univeristy of Central Arkansas. From 1986 to 1996, he was the Director of the Museum School at the Arkansas Arts Center. Bailin recently curated several shows including the WInthrop Rockefeller Institute Legacy Art Exhibition in Morrilton, the Irene Rosenzweig 2011 Biennial Exhibition at the Arts and Science Center in Pine Bluff and the Third Annual Arkansas League of Artists artShow at the Butler Center in Little Rock. He was awarded a Delta prize in last year’s 54th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center. In june, Bailin had his third solo drawing exhibition at the Koplin del Rio Gallery in Culver CIty, CA. He is currently participating in fall group exhibitions at the Historic Arkasas Museum entitled Arkansas Contemporary Selected Fellows from the Arkansas Arts Council and Between Truth and Fiction: Pictorial Narratives at the Koplin del Rio Gallery in Culver City. Submission Guidelines

All work must weigh less than 60 lbs. and measure no longer than 48″x48″. Work must be available for the duration of the exhibition. Accepted work must arrive to the BAAC Art Gallery on Main by March 15, 2013. Works must arrive exhibition ready, complete with hanging wire. No saw-tooth hangers or clip frames will be accepted. Accepted works that differ

significantly from the entry may be disqualified. All framed work must use plexi or acrylic – no glass. Works may be shipped to or hand delivered to the BAAC Art Gallery on Main at 246 E. Main Street, Batesville, AR 72501. Those being shipped must use a reusable container and accompanied by a prepaid return shipping label that will be repackaged and shipped back to the artist at the close of the exhibition. Shipment by UPS only. Hand delivered works not picked up by May 1, 2013 will become the property of the Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC).

Entry Submission

All entries must be digital files (JPG) 72 dpi, with the longest side at least 1200 pixels. Images may be submitted on a CD or

 DVD. All images must be submitted with a complete entry form and entry fee. Entry fee(s) may be paid by check/money order made out to the Batesville Area Arts Council or BAAC. Formal entry file names to include artist’s last name, fist and second initial and entry number (i.e., Smith, A.D. #1.jpg). Up to two detail images may accompany submissions. (Please label detail in file name – Smith, A.D. detail.jpg).

Insurance

All artworks will be insured while on gallery premises. PLEASE NOTE: Insurance does not cover damage caused duting shipping due to any reason. Please insure your work during transit.

Sale of Artwork

All work must be available for sale during the exhibition. BAAC will retain a commission of 35% on all art work sold during the exhibition.

Publicity

BAAC may use images of art work accepted into the exhibition for publicity purposes. Artists agree to allow reproduction

of their digital files and or photographs taken of their art for educational, publicity and archival purposes.
