Tommy Tuberville to speak at Harding University Feb 17

Tommy Tuberville, current head football coach of the Texas Tech University Red Raiders and former coach of the Auburn University Tigers, will continue the 2010-11 American Studies Institute Distinguished Lecture Series at Harding University. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Benson Auditorium Harding University.

Tuberville’s coaching career spans more than 30 years and includes head coach positions at University of Mississippi and Auburn University. He was named head coach of the Texas Tech University Red Raiders in January 2010. A Camden, Ark., native, he was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Throughout his career, Tuberville has been named the AFCA, Associated Press, Paul “Bear” Bryant, FCA, SEC and Walter Camp Coach of the Year.

The American Studies Institute began at Harding University in 1953 as the School of American Studies and was expanded and renamed in 1988. It is designed to supplement the academic training of students by promoting a complete understanding of the institutions, values and ideas of liberty and democracy by providing up-to-date reflections from national and international leaders in business, government and education. Past speakers have included President George W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Ben Stein, Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, and President George H.W. Bush, just to name a few.
