UACCB 9th Annual Renaissance Days planned for April 27, 28

The ninth annual Renaissance Days at University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville is slated for Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, 2012.
 
According to the event’s organizer, Marla Bennett, Renaissance Days continues to be a popular area festival. “Each year, festival participants gather at UACCB to enjoy a fun day of learning about and celebrating medieval times.” Bennett teaches English at UACCB and holds a master’s degree in 17th century British Literature and Renaissance.
 
Activities and demonstrations include: sword fighting, mini-jousting, tug o’ war, archery, maypole, storytelling, costumes, banners, and Renaissance music and dance.
 
Renaissance Days is free and open to the public.  Friday’s festivities will be 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. The Friday Night Showcase will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature UACCB’s Commedia dell ‘Arte Players and UACCB Renaissance Chamber Singers and other professional Renaissance Faire performers. Saturday’s festivities will take place 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
