UACCB To Host Meeting On Energy Efficiency

Local manufacturers are invited to participate in the newly-formed ArkansasIndustrial Energy Clearinghouse (AIEC).  This new state-level partnershipcombines the Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions and University of Arkansasexperts to create valuable resources for employers in regard to energyefficiency.

According to Kathleen McNamee, chair of Community and Technical Education for Universityof Arkansas Community College at Batesville, a breakfast meeting is planned oncampus for the purpose of sharing information about this project.  McNamee said the clearinghouse is funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) which means energy efficiency services are beingprovided at no cost to Arkansasindustries.  

Through this new partnership, participating companies should haveaccess to information on conducting in-house energy assessments, technicalresources and designated software to help identify, assess, and manage energy systems, and recommendations for cost and energy savings solutions.  Somecompanies may qualify for energy audits and the AMS will maintain aninformational website (www.arkansasiec.org).

       UACCB will host abreakfast meeting on December 15, 2011 at 7:30 a.m. where Charles Appleby,Operations Manager for the Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions, will discuss the Arkansas Industrial Energy Clearinghouse program.  Breakfast will beserved with a question and answer session to follow Appleby’spresentation.  

       McNamee said environmental engineers and plant maintenance supervisors are especially encouraged to attend this meeting scheduled in Room 104 of Independence Hall.   The program should conclude by 9 a.m.
