UACCB to Recognize Area EAST Lab Students

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will host a recognition event for area EAST Lab studentson Friday, February 24, 2012 in Independence Hall. This event, which begins at 10 a.m., will allow students an opportunity to showcase their projects to parents, peers, teachers and others who attend.

The UACCB Division of Business, Technology, and Public Service has hosted this event for several years as a way to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of these students and their teachers. Division Chair, Dr.Tamara Griffin adds, “This event gives students the experience ofpresenting their material before they make their presentations at the annual EAST conference which takes place in Hot  Springs next month. We invite the EAST students, their sponsors, families,friends and the community to come and show support for these students onFebruary 24th.”

EAST labs are established through the EAST Initiative, whichis a nonprofit organization providing new ways of learning for modern students.The EAST model of education features student-driven service projectsaccomplished with the latest in technology. The thirteen junior and senior highschools that are scheduled to participate are: Batesville, Calico Rock, Cave City, Cedar Ridge, Concord, Hillcrest, Izard County Consolidated, Mammoth Spring, Midland, Mountain View, Newport, Southside and Viola.
