University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s to offer series of Microsoft Excel training

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Community and Technical Education Division will offer three levels of Microsoft Excel courses this Spring.  Ms. Gayla Dahl will be the instructor for each of these courses.

Dahl has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas. She also has certification in grades 7-12 business education with a computer tech endorsement, and has 15 hours of post-graduate work in the Information Technology field. She is in her sixth year at Southside School District. She is married to Dale Dahl and they have three grown children Adam, Jason and Jared.

According to a student she had last fall in the Intro to Excel course, “Ms. Dahl was very helpful and explained things well. She showed me (Excel) shortcuts that I didn’t know about.”

The Excel courses will be available during March and April as follows:

Intro to Microsoft Excel 2010 Students will learn to use the ribbon, toolbars and menus; open, create and modify simple workbooks and worksheets; manage files in backstage view; work with data and tables; and perform simple calculations.  Students must be able to navigate the desktop and have basic computer skills. Fee: $48 plus textbook to be purchased at UACCB Bookstore. Dates: March 5, 7, 12, 13, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Annex, Room 402.

Intermediate Excel 2010 Moving beyond basics, students will learn to change the appearance of workbooks by incorporating Excel features such as images, borders and shading; sort and filter data; combine data from multiple sources; create charts and graphs; and use advanced formulas.  Prerequisite: Intro to Microsoft Excel 2010 or prior experience. Fee: $56 plus textbook to be purchased at UACCB Bookstore. Dates: March 26, 28, April 2, 4, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Annex, Room 402.

Advanced Excel Students will learn advanced features of Excel by presenting information visually with graphics, charts and diagrams; integrating Excel with other office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Access); adding comments, tracking changes and using web features and advanced functions and formulas.  Prerequisite: Intermediate Excel 2010 or prior experience. Fee: $52 plus textbook to be purchased at UACCB Bookstore.  Dates: April 9, 11, 16, 18, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Annex, Room 402.

The same textbook may be used for each of these courses and can be purchased through the UACCB Bookstore.
